Peningkatan Pengetahuan Tentang Hepatitis C pada Calon Pendonor di Politeknik Akbara

Abstract

Hepatitis is an inflammatory disease of the liver that can be caused by various factors, including viral infections. The transmission of HCV is generally associated with the use of contaminated syringes, especially in countries with high rates of chronic diseases. Blood transfusion is one of the primary means of HCV transmission, with approximately 1 in 100,000 blood units at risk of contamination. Hepatitis C awareness sessions at AKBARA Polytechnic in Surakarta represent a form of community service and proactive preventive efforts. The objective of these activities is to impart knowledge on the transmission of hepatitis C to potential blood donors. The methods employed involve educational presentations using PowerPoint and a laptop. The implementation results of the activities indicate active participation from the attendees, who enthusiastically inquire about the transmission of hepatitis C. An evaluation conducted at the end of the event demonstrates the participants' understanding of the material. The efforts to promote and prevent hepatitis C at AKBARA Polytechnic in Surakarta can be considered successful, with participants gaining an understanding of how to prevent viral transmission. It is recommended that such activities become a regular agenda, and participants are encouraged to disseminate information on hepatitis C prevention.
