Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease that poses a major global health challenge due to its potential to cause various complications if not properly managed. Early detection through health screening and family health education is an important strategy for improving disease control. This community service program aimed to evaluate the outcomes of health screening and the effectiveness of health education among families with members diagnosed with DM in Cot Beut Village, Kuta Baro District, Aceh Besar Regency. The program employed a family-centered approach involving observation, interviews, measurements of blood glucose levels, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and pulse rate, followed by health education on healthy dietary practices, physical activity, and diabetes management. The findings showed that 2 of the 6 family members had elevated blood glucose levels, while the remaining participants had normal blood glucose levels. Health education improved the family's knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of regular health check-ups; however, it was not sufficient to promote sustained healthy lifestyle changes and adherence to diabetes management. Therefore, health screening proved effective for early detection of diabetes risk, whereas health education requires continuous assistance and follow-up to achieve more effective behavioral changes.
