Penerapan 5 Momen Cuci Tangan Perawat di Ruang Rawat Anak RSUDZA Banda Aceh

Implementing 5-moments of hand hygiene is the foremost preventive measure for nosocomial infections. This case study aimed to determine the nurse's implementation of the 5 moments for hand hygiene in the pediatric ward of RSUDZA of Banda Aceh. This research used quantitative research type with descriptive observational methods and a cross-sectional study approach. The respondents were 18 nurses taken by accidental sampling technique. The data was collected using an observation sheet of 5 moments for hand washing. The case study results showed that nine respondents (50%) were in the excellent category in implementing 5-moment hand hygiene in the pediatric ward at RSUDZA, while the other nine respondents (50%) were in the poor category. The lack of implementation occurred during the first moment before contact with the patient in 18 respondents (100%) and the period before aseptic procedures in 11 respondents (61.1%). This research concludes that implementing the 5 moments for hand hygiene by nurses in the pediatric ward of RSUDZA in Banda Aceh is still not optimal. The hospital should evaluate nurses' workload and monitor the implementation of the 5 moments of hand hygiene among nurses in the ward through direct supervision by the head of the room and training to improve nurses' skills in applying the 5 moments of hand hygiene.
