Abstract

The purpose of this literature review is to analyze the effect of work stress and workload on the shipping industry. By analyzing and synthesizing previous research, relevant findings and existing knowledge gaps can be identified. The results of the literature review show that work stress has a negative impact on the performance of workers in the shipping industry. Stressful factors such as time pressure, excessive responsibility, and a risky work environment can interfere with workers' concentration and motivation. Job stress can also cause an increase in physical and mental fatigue, and reduce work productivity and quality. Workload that exceeds individual capacity can cause ongoing fatigue and decreased ability to carry out tasks. Based on the literature review, there are several articles relevant to this topic. According to one of the articles, there is no positive and significant correlation between job stress and job satisfaction of employees in shipping companies. According to other studies, workload and work organization factors have an impact on how stressed shipyard employees are at work. Overall, it can be concluded that workload and work stress are detrimental to the performance of employees in the shipping sector.
