Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the travel distance of blood donor mobile units and Whole Blood hemolysis at the Indonesian Red Cross Blood Donor Unit (UDD PMI) of Blora Regency. A descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed using secondary quality control data from the 2022–2024 period. All Whole Blood units with complete travel-distance and hemolysis examination data were included using a total sampling technique. Mobile unit travel distance was classified into short, medium, and long categories, while hemolysis status was determined based on the examination standards applied in the study. Data analysis included frequency distribution, percentages, mean transport temperature, and the Pearson correlation test. The results showed that O-positive blood was the most frequently identified blood group. The initial transport temperature of all blood units was within the standard range, although some units showed temperature deviations upon arrival. Most samples did not experience hemolysis, and short-distance travel was the most common category. The analysis indicated that there was no relationship between mobile unit travel distance and Whole Blood hemolysis.
