Penerapan Trauma Healing Melalui Terapi Story Telling pada Anak Penyintas Banjir Bandang di Desa Sukajadi Aceh Tamiang

Flash floods are natural disasters that can cause psychological impacts on children, including fear, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, and sleep disturbances. These conditions may hinder children's psychological recovery if not managed appropriately. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of storytelling therapy in reducing anxiety among child survivors of flash floods in Sukajadi Village, Aceh Tamiang. A case study approach was employed using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The participants consisted of 18 children aged 5–11 years affected by the disaster. The assessment findings revealed that 7 children experienced anxiety and restlessness, 6 children showed signs of fear, 7 children had difficulty concentrating, and 10 children reported sleep disturbances. Nursing intervention was provided through storytelling therapy as a form of trauma healing for 30 minutes. The evaluation results demonstrated a reduction in anxiety symptoms, as indicated by calmer behavior, improved concentration, and better social interaction among the children. Storytelling therapy was found to be effective in reducing anxiety and supporting psychological recovery among child disaster survivors. Storytelling therapy is recommended as a psychosocial support intervention for children affected by disasters.
