Abstract

Post-cesarean infection is a common complication in Indonesia and causes wounds that are red, pus-filled, and painful. Data shows that the rate of post-cesarean infections among mothers remains high in Indonesia, which can result in wound infections. This condition can cause physical and psychological disturbances, requiring comprehensive nursing care. The purpose of this case study is to apply nursing care to a patient with post-cesarean infection in Room Arafah 2 at RSUDZA Banda Aceh. The patient has been hospitalized for 12 days. The wound is pus-filled and red, accompanied by pain at the post-cesarean site. The nursing diagnoses applied include impaired tissue integrity, risk of ineffective peripheral perfusion, and knowledge deficit. Interventions performed include wound care using aseptic and sterile techniques for 15 minutes; six-step handwashing; education on dietary patterns, including consumption of beets, dragon fruit, and guava; recommending intake of 6 egg whites per day; education on the disease; and education on suitable contraceptive methods. The evaluation results during care showed improvement in the post-cesarean wound, which was dry, pus-free, and non-red, with no signs of infection. The patient was not dizzy or weak, CRT improved to less than 3 seconds, the patient understood and comprehended the disease, and was able to choose an appropriate contraceptive method based on her condition. It is hoped that nurses can prevent infections, such as in patients with post-cesarean infection with placenta previa indications.
