Perbedaan Kejadian Hemolisis antara Lama Penyimpanan Darah Whole Blood dan Packed Red Cell di UDD PMI Kota Surakarta

Hemolysis is a condition in which the red blood cell membrane is damaged, resulting in the release of hemoglobin into the serum or plasma. This condition is categorized as hemolysis when the hemoglobin concentration exceeds 0.02 g/dL. This study aims to determine the difference in hemolysis incidence between whole blood (WB) and packed red cell (PRC) during storage. The research design employed was descriptive quantitative with a case-control approach and observational method. Samples were collected using a total sampling technique utilizing secondary data. Data processing involved several stages, including entry, editing, coding, and tabulating, while data analysis included univariate analysis presented in frequency distribution tables and bivariate analysis using correlation tests and paired-sample t-tests. Data analysis was conducted with the assistance of SPSS version 26 and Microsoft Excel 2010. The results showed that out of 40 WB blood bags, 50% did not experience hemolysis with a value of <0.8%, whereas in PRC blood, 21.3% showed no hemolysis and 28.8% experienced hemolysis with a value of >0.8%. These findings indicate that hemolysis occurs more frequently in PRC compared to WB during storage.
