Abstract

Elderly individuals frequently experience Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. Hypertension is known as a silent killer because it poses a high risk of serious complications such as heart attacks and strokes. This case study aims to evaluate the impact of red guava juice as a primary intervention to help maintain normal blood pressure and reduce cholesterol levels in elderly patients with hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. The intervention included education on the nutritional content of red guava juice and demonstrations on how to prepare it. Evaluation results showed stable blood pressure and a reduction in cholesterol levels. The intervention is expected to contribute positively to lowering both blood pressure and Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in elderly individuals with hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, thereby improving overall cardiovascular health. Additionally, the consumption of guava juice is recommended as a simple and efficient nutritional alternative to support the management of degenerative diseases in the elderly.
