Strategi Kesantunan Moderatif dalam Komunikasi Interpersonal Pada Acara Desak Anies Edisi Terakhir di Kota Surabaya
Keywords:
Politeness Principles, Moderate Politeness Strategies, Desak AniesAbstract
This study aims to analyze the use of moderate politeness techniques in Anies Baswedan’s discourse during the Desak Anies talk show in Surabaya, based on Geoffrey Leech’s linguistic politeness principles. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected purposively using a combined snowball technique from relevant utterances and were analyzed inductively. The findings indicate that the speaker applies various politeness principles, including agreement, tact, generosity, approbation, sympathy, and liberality. Moderate politeness techniques are manifested through emotional control, providing space for participation, prudent attitudes, and seeking common ground in communication. These strategies foster fair, participatory, and non-dominant interactions while enhancing the audience’s emotional engagement. The managerial implications of this study suggest that the application of moderate politeness techniques can serve as an effective public communication strategy for political actors and organizational leaders to maintain reputation, strengthen trust, and build constructive social relationships with their audiences.
