Peran Institusi Agama Dalam Masyarakat Modern

Abstract

This research discusses the important role of religious institutions in the life of modern society which is influenced by technological advances, globalization and changes in traditional values. Despite facing various criticisms and challenges, religion remains a source of moral values, identity and solutions to social problems. This research aims to explain how the role of religious institutions can be maintained and enhanced in social, moral and political aspects. By using descriptive qualitative methods through literature study, the research results show that religious institutions play an important role in providing moral guidance, maintaining social harmony, and being mediators in conflicts between religious believers. Apart from that, religion functions as a social glue that strengthens relationships between members of society with values such as honesty, justice, tolerance and compassion. In Indonesia, institutions such as Islamic boarding schools have a significant role in character education for the younger generation, although they need to adapt to current developments. In conclusion, even though society's views on religion are diverse and complex, religion remains relevant as an ethical guide and solution to the challenges of modern life and helps create harmony in society.
