Analisis Dampak Fear of Missing Out Terhadap Kesehatan Mental Generasi Z: Studi Empiris Penggunaan Media Sosial
Keywords:
Social Media, Generation Z, Mental HealthAbstract
The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) has emerged as a significant consequence of social media use, particularly among Generation Z, with serious implications for their mental health. This study aims to analyze the impact of FoMO on the mental well-being of Generation Z and to identify the factors that exacerbate its effects. Based on a survey involving 100 respondents, the findings reveal that the majority experience anxiety, low self-esteem, and psychological stress due to the constant pressure to stay connected and keep up with trends on social media platforms. High social media usage, the need for recognition or validation from peers, and ongoing social comparison are identified as the main factors that intensify the negative impact of FoMO on mental health. The study recommends several preventive and intervention strategies, including integrating digital literacy into educational curricula, developing screen time reduction programs, and promoting meaningful offline social activities. These measures aim to help Generation Z achieve a healthier balance between their online and offline lives and support their long-term mental well-being.
