Peran Duolingo sebagai bentuk Peningkatan Kemampuan Berbahasa Inggris pada Mahasiswa melalui Self Regulated Learning

Abstract

English language skills are a challenge for students in the current era. English language skills are very necessary, because in addition to meeting the demands of work, English language skills are  also  needed  to  continue  their  studies.  Self  Regulated  Learning (SRL) is the  ability of individuals to regulate their own learning activities, including in terms of metacognition, motivation, and behavior. To optimize the ability of Self Regulated Learning in students in learning English, Duolingo is one of the learning media that can support the needs of learning independence. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach that aims to obtain information about the role of Duolingo as a form of improving students' English language skills through Self Regulated Learning. The study used a structured interview  method  to  collect  information  from  all  students  at  the  Indonesian  Education University with a sampling size of 10 active students. The results showed that the use of the Duolingo application as an effort to develop the ability to independently learn English has been considered effective and has a positive impact.
