Peran Evaluasi Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam Pembentukan Karakter Santri di SMA MTA Surakarta

Character degradation among the younger generation constitutes a serious challenge for education in the modern era. Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) is expected to play a strategic role in shaping students’ character, discipline, and the internalization of Islamic values. The evaluation of PAI learning is not limited to measuring cognitive achievement, but also functions as a means of monitoring students’ attitudes and behavior in their daily lives. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic Religious Education learning evaluation at SMA MTA Surakarta and to examine its role in shaping students’ character and discipline. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation involving PAI teachers. The findings indicate that the evaluation of Islamic Religious Education learning at SMA MTA Surakarta is conducted comprehensively through diagnostic, formative, and summative evaluations. The school also implements continuous monitoring of students’ attitudes and behavior in both school and dormitory environments. This monitoring is carried out through collaboration among Islamic Religious Education teachers, homeroom teachers, and guidance and counseling teachers.
