Analisis Kemampuan Penalaran dan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa Sekolah Dasar Dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita

Abstract
This study aims to analyze mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities among sixth-grade students at SDN Mondoteko using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection involved written tests comprising two open-ended story problems and one complex multiple true-false question, supplemented by interviews with the research subjects. Data analysis revealed that students scored 66.6% in understanding the problem, 56.6% in determining strategies, 51.6% in applying mathematical operations, and 53.3% in drawing conclusions. The average mathematical reasoning ability of the students was 57%, indicating a low category. These findings underscore the importance of developing more effective teaching strategies to enhance students' mathematical reasoning skills in elementary schools. Instructional strategies should focus on improving students' understanding of mathematical problems, their ability to determine appropriate solution strategies, effectively applying mathematical operations, and drawing conclusions from the results obtained. This approach will aid students in mastering mathematical concepts more effectively and in facing mathematical challenges with greater confidence and competence.
