Eating disorders are mental health problems associated with unhealthy eating behaviors that may adversely affect adolescents’ development, including physical, psychosocial, emotional, academic and career domains, as well as identity formation. This study aimed to describe the risk of eating disorders among female students at SMAN 2 Banda Aceh. The research employed a quantitative descriptive design using proportional random sampling, involving 171 respondents. The Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) questionnaire was utilized to assess the risk of eating disorder tendencies. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents (66.67%) were not at risk of developing eating disorders, while 33.33% were classified as at risk. Based on the three subscales of the Eating Attitudes Test-26, respondents with overweight and obese nutritional status tended to exhibit higher levels of unhealthy eating behaviors, particularly in the dieting and bulimia and food preoccupation domains. Meanwhile, most female adolescents demonstrated relatively good oral control, although a small proportion showed tendencies toward dietary restriction. In conclusion, the majority of female students at SMAN 2 Banda Aceh were not at risk for eating disorders. Nevertheless, education on healthy eating habits and the promotion of a positive body image are still necessary to prevent unhealthy eating behaviors.
